aspects that should be accounted in our music video

The factors that will need to be taken into consideration when planning a video are:
The location
Actors
Weather
Sound and Lighting
Costume
Hair and make up
Mise en scene
The positioning of characters and objects in a frame

If we want our music video to be successful we must include all of these aspects.

Case study- Jamie thraves

Jamie thraves created short films while he was at university. He used award- winning short films as a 'calling card' to get a 'foot in the door' with the video company factory films. After he started to shoot very low budget music videos which cost about 5000 pounds.

Heres the proccess of it all:
.A commissioner from a record label sends a track to 5-10 directors
.The directors then submit a treatment, there is no payments at this stage
.The director who has submitted the best treatment is then commissioned to produce the video, from here the director is paid

Here is one of Jamie Thraves latest music video 'Japanese Popstars song for Lisa. The video cost about 20,000 pounds, it took two days to be shot. Jamie has used the music video to get into the film business.

Radio Head- Just had a budget of 100,000 pounds and  was shot in three days.

Cold play- The Scientist had a budget of 200,000 pounds adn was shot in three days. The song was written by all members of the group. The video consists of reverse narrative, inorder for this to be done, Martin had to learn to sing the song backwards.

what I learn from the preliminary task

The preliminary that i and my group member this allowed us to discover the key aspects of creating a music video. This have helped us feel more  confident towards the process of producing our actual music video. The preliminary task has made us discover actually how difficult it would be to create a actual music video. The task has also helped us develop skills such as getting lip synching in perfect place, this will be advantageous for us in the future when we coming to editing our actual music video.

worldle how we know a music video is successfull

Finding our song for our final product

To stay away from any copyright products we have discovered a site we can use to choose the music we want for our music video. The site holds non-copyright music which have been produce by independant unsigned artist.

Preliminary

We were asked to do a preliminary task in our groups to grasp the aspects of how to create a music video. We were given a song to use in our task. The song that we were given for the task was 'Don't go breaking my heart' by Elton John and Kiki D.

I and my partner firstly attempted to learn the words of the song, but we saw that it was too difficult as we both had no clue of the song. Even when we had the words on the projector and tried do a karaoki it was still proven difficult. We finally gave up after a numerous attempts and got two members of another group to take over.

We had to film three parts of footage with a HD cam recorder, which all included different situations, one where i am dancing, another where my partner is dancing and lasty the part where there is lip sinking.

Once we collected the footage we uploaded it onto the imac. we then had the song bluetooth over to the imac we were on.

First of all we had to get the edit of the lip sinking perfect and on point inorder for us to begin cutting and editing parts in and out. We then added some effects to have the video look more interesting. Hopfully this procedure of the preliminary task we help us with the final product.

Well here it is. Enjoy!

The purpose of a video and how do we know it is successful

A music video is a short film which is mixed up with a song and imagery. The purpose of a music video would be to give the lyrics of the song an interpretation, to express the song only the audience to see clearly what the song is about and to also add meaning. A music video is also used to promote the song so it can forward itself to a larger audience; it’s also used to promote the artist. A music video will express and individual's emotion; these emotions could show anger, sadness or happiness.

A music video can be judged to be successful by the TV channel it is on, the sales increase, the increase of the downloads, the number of views the video has from Youtube, the amount of times the music video is shown on TV, CD sales and the charts. all of these aspects will determine the
Popularity of the video and probrably the sale figures.
